When you’ve been dating for a decade your family and friends become pretty invested in your relationship. So, after a fabulously tense build up to that all important kiss on the lips, the crowd absolutely exploded with cheers!
Jenee and Mitch’s love story is an awesome one. When they locked eyes over a few mangos at the ‘Vale, Mitch sealed the deal on the dancefloor with moves designed to woo. Jenee thought he was irresistible and BAM. A decade of adventuring later, Mitch proposed at the peak of Machu Picchu after hiking 4 days with a ring in his pocket. Mega points for the effort on this one.
This wedding event could be best described as an Urban Chic Soiree. A perfect reflection of Jenee and Mitch – it was energetic, contemporary and loads of fun.
As always with the devil in the details, something old something new need never apply only to brides – Mitch paired Ray Bans and his grandfather’s service pin with his tuxedo.
Jenee’s dress was something else. “I tried on almost every dress in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast! It was the only thing out of the whole wedding that wasn’t easy to find! My sister told me about House of Ezis. I saw a design of his on Instagram (it wasn’t a wedding dress) and just loved it. We only had about 3 fittings, and Andrzej was really helpful and easy! We changed the design a couple of times until we both loved it! I didn’t necessarily have any idea in mind of what I wanted to start with, but I absolutely loved it, and it felt very me!!”
Styled with the perfect ponytail, the House of Ezis asymmetric couture gown sat like a perfectly folded origami that Jenee was able to cheer, hug and dance in, without feeling squeezed by a corset (similar sensation to a python).
When the doors of High Church opened they were officiated by one of our favourites, Carly Slade. (Brisbane’s most stylish celebrant? NEVER a grey power suit in sight).
Jenee remembers, “My favourite memory is the moment I walked into the ceremony. I remember seeing Mitchell’s face, and I can’t remember feeling happier!
Our impression of the events follows like a flip book in fast forward. Jenee’s father’s custom built cars (his other beloved daughters), perfect afternoon light in a Powerhouse photoshoot, a giant cake, a photobooth, more than a few loose units on the dancefloor, Greased Lightning and a LOT of champagne!
Some last advice from this kicking couple? “Don’t get caught up in the little things! I know a lot of people who have let the stress and planning get in the way of enjoying it. I loved planning our wedding – the planning and the day go so quickly, just enjoy every moment!”
Things we LOVE about High Church:
- Enough space for LOADS of guests
- Mega entrance opportunity for the bridal party
- Great natural light in daytime ceremonies
- Fabulous acoustics for the party
- Centre of the Valley if your crowd is the kick-on type
