Penelope and Lorenzo first met as teenagers back in 2015, while flipping burgers together at Grill’d, Garden City. We’re sure this isn’t the first love story to start at this iconic establishment, but we can be certain that it’s the best one. From here on in, the couple started dating and the rest is history! Lorenzo popped the question in a secluded section of a 5 star Hamilton Island resort as the sun set – who could say no in a setting that beautiful!? They were soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Scalabrini. Lorenzo had also hired a photographer to discreetly capture the moment, which would have added to the pressure I’m sure!
For Lorenzo, the day started off with some fresh haircuts from Penelope’s uncle and a suite of customised football shirts with his groomsmens names on the backs of them – and like any great wedding the boys had bespoke suits fitted by Ian Chang in his flagship store on James Street. Meanwhile over at the Girls place, Penelope was being photographed alongside her stunning and intricate George Wu dress, looking like something straight from the cover of Vogue Magazine. This amazing dress featured George’s signature removable skirt, meaning that Penelope could get married in a beautifully shaped voluminous dress, but once she’s ready to party the skirt can be removed, revealing an equally beautiful dress that’s a lot easier to get down on the dance floor in. On the morning, Andy found some of the most dreamy lighting that we have ever seen to create some simple yet elegant photos for our couple.
On their wedding day, Penelope and Lorenzo were most looking forward to seeing their family and friends come together, so it only made sense that they held their ceremony in the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George, West End, given that their heritage is a mix of Greek and Italian. It’s so important to honour your heritage on your wedding day and to also make sure that you are married in a place where all of your loved ones can come and bear witness to you!
Penelope and Lorenzo’s location shoot was like something from a dream, the delicacy of the dresses, suits and florals worked in perfect harmony with the old sandstone structure of UQ’s Great Court and the classic car that the couple hired for the day. Evernew’s photo and video team (Andy, Hayley, Ryan and Lydon) did a perfect job of highlighting every little detail and the spark that the couple shared. The location shoot isn’t just about the couple though, it’s also the perfect time to get some photos with your bridal party and have some fun! Penelope and Lorenzo wanted their day to be full of happiness, fun and elegance and we managed to capture the essence of all of these things in just over an hour! Perfection doesn’t always have to take copious amounts of time.
The Greek Club reception was oozing with class and elegance, with a minimalistic 5 tier cake, countless chandeliers cascading from the ceiling and candles every which way you looked. The couple looked absolutely stunning in their room, it was everything that they dreamed of and more all thanks to the talented people at Celebrating in Style event stylists. Penelope promised that she was going to (and I quote) “get down on the dance floor”, and from the second they entered the room, the dance floor was filled to the brim with traditional and not so traditional dancing. The dancing, along with the heartfelt speeches all added up to be the perfect party to end the perfect day!
