Karen + Rocky | High Church Wedding

Okay – let’s sit back a minute and take in one of our favourite weddings from 2018 – celebrating the Style King and Queen, Rocky and Karen!

The details here are completely striking – Rocky took centre stage in an ultra cool burgundy velvet dinner jacket paired with blue chinos. His bow tie matched, and striped socks contrasted with the groomsmens polka dots.

Karen and her crown took us to a new level of bridal style appreciation. It was simply sensational

“I was scrolling through Instagram and fell in love with the crown that Troian Bellisario sported on her wedding to Patrick Adams and had to some insta-stalking. I found out it was from AMAROQ Designs. My closest girlfriends then surprised me at my hens by giving me money for it (they are the best!!) – I always think of them when I see it now! It was a bit extravagant but for me, I felt like it really tied the theme of our wedding together.”

Well, we’ve also done a bit of Insta-stalking and have to share this beautiful level of detail – Karen’s crown ‘Oriana,’ (or “gold” in Italian), is set with Grade A Brazilian Rose quartz, symbolizing and attracting love. Doesn’t that make you smile?

With their 2 year long engagement they arrived at their big day excited, ready to party and definitely have a laugh.

To dispel any nerves, (though there was no thoughts of cold feet after having been together for 10 years), everyone trundled off in Brisbane’s coolest creme Kombi for a super cute first look at the Powerhouse. Rocky was blown away by his beautiful bride, and there was a lot of cheers from their entourage!

The team smashed through a quick photoshoot outside of the Teneriffe London Offices and then it was away to one of the Valley’s most fashionable venues, High Church. When searching for the perfect space, Karen remembers, “We looked at a couple of venues that seemed like they suited the theme that we had envisioned for our wedding (vintage, rustic and intimate) and fell in love with High Church the moment we got there!”

The intimate and emotional ceremony ended with a lot of laughs. After being announced husband and wife, Rocky’s nerves got the best of him and he leaned in to plant a kiss right through Karen’s veil! We love this memory!

Champagne was popped and the space was flipped to host a vintage inspired sit down dinner for 80. Look closely and you’ll find the unique detail where each guest had a personalised favor of their own printed polaroid portrait!

Thinking back on the evening, Karen told us, “My favourite memory of the day would have to be our first dance – it was a romantic moment that felt like it was just between us and really made me feel like we were married.”

Finally, some last advice from the happy couple: “Don’t stress too much about the little details, it really doesn’t matter on the day!

MORE things we LOVE about High Church:

  • A catering team that can offer cocktails and canapes, or a full service sit down
  • Location! Loads of accommodation in walking distance for guests, not to mention the Story Bridge at the end of the street for evening photos!
